Analysing the data -
Group Data Sheets

Students should compile their field data as follows, so that each student has a complete set of results for the group's transect:

  • Each student should calculate averages of species numbers in their three quadrats for each station (from their Field Charts).
  • These results should be pooled for the class. Results should be swapped until each member of the group or class has a complete set of data for each station along the transect.
  • Provide each group with the estimated heights above low water for each station on their particular transect. (Included in these notes.)
  • These data should also be recorded in the pooled results.
  • After completing the group data sheets log into the database and upload your class data to the Rocky Shores Database.
