Data collection

  The study involves:
  • pre-visit exercises and background study of rocky shore ecology.
  • a guided field survey, using transects and quadrats, to describe the distribution of organisms along a high tide - low tide continuum.
  • a visit to the Marine Discovery Centre for a closer look at some of the sub-tidal rocky shore inhabitants.
  • post-visit manipulation and representation of results, including proposals of hypotheses to account for observed distribution patterns if desired

Getting there
